I met Mehmet in Turkey. We didn't speak much, I didn't know Turkish and he didn't speak much English. But aside from that, we both weren't particularly talkative. We met for 5 consecutive days and mostly sat in his studio playing music.

We'd improvised on this melody a couple times before this recording. I find it so relaxing and I had been listening to a lot of João Gilberto. When he told me it was his favourite, we played it on the last day. The recording lasted about 20 minutes so this is only a short section. Something about listening to melodies on a bass like this really moves me.
